Dayton-Phoenix Group opened a new manufacturing facility “Dayton-Phoenix Electricals Private Limited” in Baddi, India on March 8, 2009. This facility provides technical support and local indigenization of product to support the tremendous growth of locomotive production of the Indian Railways.

This facility caters strictly to serving the Indian market and allows DPG to maintain a strong OEM presence in India. “Without this facility, DPG would not have been able to supply product long-term from the US,” stated Steve Schonert, Director of Sales and Service for DPG.

Dayton-Phoenix Electricals Private Limited is managed by Mr. Del Abnet. Del relocated to India to run the entire operation and will ensure that the Indian product fully meets DPG standards for OEM quality. This facility has state of the art equipment and testing capability, including automated data recording. Over the next few years DPG expects to be able to offer Indian Railways upgrades and improved products to enhance their current product line.

Additionally, this facility allows for the complete remanufacturing and preventative maintenance of all components supplied by DPG to the Indian Railways over the past 10 years. Steve continued, “We are excited about the growth potential in India and look forward to working closely with the Indian Railway to improve life cycle costs of the EMD GT46 locomotive”.

Dayton-Phoenix Group Introduces New, Low-Cost Stainless Steel and Plastic Toilet Product Line

Working with major railroads, engineers, service personnel and OEMs, Dayton-Phoenix Group is introducing a new line of Stainless Steel and Plastic Toilets, according to Steve Schonert, DPG Director of Sales.

“In our work with companies such as EMD, GE and others, we’ve learned a great deal about what they want,” Schonert says. “The result is a line of toilet products that provides better value for our customers by incorporating engineered plastics for improved durability, fewer parts to service, as well as more installation options.”

The new product line includes four new units: PM118-15 and PM188-19 are the newly engineered, low-cost replacements to the current models of the same numbers. PM118-16 is designed to replace Microphor and Evac systems, while PM192-15 is a new low-cost, all-plastic toilet.

“Priced at half the cost of stainless, lighter in weight, more durable and easier to service, the new PM192-15 is definitely a product that’s worth a closer look if you’re trying to maintain quality and cut your costs,” Schonert says.
