Innovation is Born in Dayton
DELCO (Dayton Engineering Laboratories Company) is founded by Charles Kettering and Edward Deeds.
1910
A First in Automotive History
DELCO introduces the battery ignition system and self-starter for the 1910 Cadillac.
1918
DELCO Joins General Motors
GM acquires DELCO, further investing in electrical innovation.
1939
Serving the Rail Industry Begins
DELCO provides locomotive components to GM’s new rail division, laying the foundation for what would become Dayton-Phoenix Group.
1992
Dayton-Phoenix Group is Founded
DPG is formed to carry forward a legacy of American manufacturing and engineering excellence.
1994
A New Era in Climate Control
DPG supplies its first HVAC system to GE Transportation (now Wabtec), launching a new product line.
1999
Growth Through Acquisition
DPG acquires Prime Manufacturing to strengthen mechanical and HVAC product lines and expand into HVAC service.
2000
Engineering Capabilities Expand
DPG acquires Dynamic, a leader in resistor systems.
2002
System Integration Milestone
DPG becomes a full system integrator with its first dynamic brake module.
2004
DPG Enters the Fan Business
With the acquisition of Paron Industries assets, DPG adds fan technology to its growing portfolio.
2009
Mining Industry Expansion
DPG begins serving the global mining industry partnering with CAT, Komatsu, Liebherr, and mine sites worldwide.
2019
Devastation Strikes
An F4 tornado hits DPG’s Dayton, OH facility on Memorial Day, devastating the site and disrupting operations.

Rebuilding Stronger
DPG reopens in a new state-of-the-art facility, built on grit, resilience, and a commitment to its people

DPG enters the electrification and hybrid solutions space supporting rail and mining industries in their transition to cleaner, smarter operations.
